We had some
great time this trip
Los Angeles,
San Francisco
Dad's birthday
Visiting UCI

The girls watched
2 shows they can
Proudly say
They'd watched them
Before they are even
Shown in Singapore!

This times
We spent with
More abandonment
Helping the economy
as one of my cousins said

Managed to get some
great bargains
& sales stuff...

Happy to have met up
with my aunt, uncle
their eldest son
whom I had never met
their 2nd youngest son
who lives in San Francisco

All in all
a great rewarding trip
Totally gratifying
Despite one single
Incident...

Anyway, here are some photos!

My blogging is rather
Haphazard
Recently

Anyway, I will now
Talk about
This blind masseur
in Taiwan's Airport

With a 10 hr wait in
Transit
We walked enough
Shopped enough
Ate enough....

So I walked around
The terminals
Annoyed that
The Perssimons
& Grapefruits
resulted in us
Not allowed through
Immigration

So anyway
Having had a
Not-so-good flight from
LA,
the girls are happy
with their noses in their books.

So I wandered around
& found this blind masseur
for US$10
I got my shoulders
Neck and back massaged

He knew I had not
slept well for a while
& by holding my head
He decided
I was a leader
although I really
have some reservations

I mean, he thought
I was in my 30s?!
Although it secretly made me
very happy =)

at the end of the 15 minutes
He put my hand over my head
Pulled at it
and my whole back 'cracked'

Now that's professinoal!!

Happy 80th Birthday

This is to my 'old bean'
an affectionate term for my father.

He has been a pillar of strength
to my mother
helping her to settle
in a new country
bearing with her

Adopting and adapting
with her
Growing old

Gracefully

Happy Birthday Dad

It was New Year's Eve
& Sis took me out
for a count down party

Never had one of these before...

...Man what a loser....

Anyway, met her dance teacher
Who,
Some years back,
Pushed past 1/2 a century
I'm sure with a panache
that shames many lesser beings.

& still has a figure to die for.

Anyway, enjoyed the food
but the company,
aside from our group of 6
was a little less.....
Enchanting.

Realised that unless
I know a min of 20% of
guests at any dinner
I become very much
an observer

Which in itself
may not be a bad thing
but the critic that I can be
Kicks in and...
well...
I don't necessarily like
what I am...

Case in point,
Coming back to my table
I sat myself next to
My sis and
this prat of a young boy
of age between 9 - 14

His manners were terrible
no... correction...
He had no manners

He leaned right up to my elbow
to slurp his soup
He took my chopsticks
& left his own untouched.
He pushed his various empty glasses
Over to my side so to
free up space at his side.

He bounced his helium balloon
Onto the other balloons that were
tied to the flowers on the table
dragging the strings along
Over food, drinks and
Everything he touched

He then thought static was fun
& started rubbing the balloon
on his hair
trying to make it 'stick' to his head

When that didn't work
he started bouncing the balloon
on things, on flowers
ON MY HEAD.....
on things, on other balloons
ON MY HEAD.....

All this time
His mother thought
he was real cute
& played with him,
or smiled at his antics

He walked over
to my part of the table
while I was on the
Dance floor
& removed a glow band
that I reserved for use later
so that HE could have
one on each wrist

I know coz I saw
him doing it.

& his mother ruffled his hair
As if he was 'so clever'....

Aaarrrrggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Are manners so hard
to come by now
that Moms cannot
Or do not know
How to teach them?

Yes a child is a child
but a child will grow up
and if manners are not instilled
Wrongs are not corrected...
Then what do we have left?

Knowledge is nothing
without application of that knowledge
The world will be a better place
If we exercise a little
Courtesy
Manners
Grace....

Am I not being gracious then?
On the contrary,
I am, for I left
the teaching to the mother
rather than
Humiliating her
In public.

Hope the boy learns
before he chooses
the wrong target
to display
His lack of manners
& pays
the price for it.

Happy New Year!

Goodbye 2008
Hello 2009

2008 has not been a bad year for me
Financially I think I have coped well
Work wise saw many changes
But not for the worse
I am glad to say

There were some hiccups
regarding accommodation
But again,
Some good came out of it too.

We managed to save up for
This current trip
& are still enjoying the
Long overdue rest.

All good things
must come to an end
and we will be
Flying back next week...

But till then
Have a smashing time everyone!
Have another drink on our behalves
But don't drink and drive!

Happy 2009
