Bless them!
It's a great day to get hitched today.
My friend is getting married
and my nephew is also hitched
in Hong Kong.

Guess what?
Another nephew
has also just proposed to his girlfriend
in LA, or is it LV?

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Love is definitely
In the Air....

It's times like this
when one fantasizes
about the perfect match.

Yes, my beloved nephew
Got it right...
There may not be the
Perfect guy,
Or gal out there....
But there is a
"Perfect for Each Other"
kind of couple.

We pray hard that our children
will find that perfect mate
although sometimes
the 'match'
May not be that obvious
To the family members

I know many parents
Feel their children
Chose someone
Way 'beneath' them

I know coz
I've seen it happening
Over and Over

I understand
No parents want
Their children to
Enter into marriage
with financial woes
right at the doorstep

One tries to be objective
& sees the good in the person
But i'll admit
It's not easy.....

I know I am still quite
Some years away from
Having to see my children
Choose their life partners

But I hope
When the time comes...
I will remember to bless them
& bless their marriage

I'd rather
Reluctantly have a
Son-in-law
than lose a daughter
for good.

Modified in the wee hours of the morning on 11 Jan,
after thinking the post was rather misleading.. =)

Manners!
Had a really unusual encounter
the other day.
Was on the MRT,
Minding my own business.

These not-really-that-young children
(secondary, or upper primary at least)
Were pushing, hitting each other
Shuffing, even slapping their mom
In a crowded train...
during the rush hour home.

So, yes, they finally pushed into me...
Didn't step on me, but verge of
I looked up and said
"This is not a playground"

Oops... did I know what was coming!
The children moved off
to the other side
The mother soon
asked after me, in Mandarin
Wondering if the child
had stepped on me
or kicked me...

I said no, but they did push into me...
Then...
She launched into an attack

She shouted at me...
saying that I
'bullied' her children
Asked if her children were allowed
to move, and that,
If they did not hurt me
Why did I scold them
that I was "qi guai" -
Strange in mandarin

That if I could not cope with
being in the same compartment
with other people
I should take a cab.

The hurricane of accusations
and shouting
totally took me by surprise
I looked at her
Looked at the crowded train
where other passengers were avoiding
Getting pushed and shuffed by
their inconsiderate playfulness...
well...
what can i say?
I couldn't get a word edgeways?!

So I smiled and shook my head
That ticked her off even more
and her verbal abuse continued,
Accusing me of 'picking on her children'...

So I looked up to her...
and said to her, in Mandarin,
"With you kind of mother
you deserve to have
that kind of children."

With that, I returned to my book
and continued reading...
She carried on grumbling
for all to hear
but no on to listen....

I am stunned and shocked
By the total lack of
Social graces....
No, not even that
Social etiquette
some people can exhibit

Am I asking too much?
It was a crowded train
during rush hour
There was scarcely
Space to stand,
Let alone space
to exhibit
martial art skills!

Please people! Wake up!
Please parents!
Teach your children
Socially acceptable behaviour
In public places
Before they ended up
Pushing into
some Ruffians
and ended up
in a real fight!

Really enjoyed the recent conference...
OK, so the fact that it was in Bali
might have been one contributing factor.
The sun, the sand and the sea
Added the holiday atmosphere
To the Spirit filled conference

The clan returned with
varying degree of roastedness
One rode a horse
The other parasailed
All of us hit the beach...
Nice ... v Nice

One fell in love again
to the point that
she is glowing!
Is it T? Doubt it
think it's J....

I approve of this one....
He's different and
I really don't think
He'll break her heart
He will make her happy

That 's all I really want
for my baby
After what she went through......

Remembering the Fallen
It's Remembrance Sunday last week,

when leaders from around the world

remember the fallen soldiers

who fought for their countries,

for freedom, not necessarily of theirs,

but definitely for their loved ones.

The poem is by John Fischer

whose daily "Catch of the Day"

comes into my inbox... daily.

I have included a link at the bottom of this entry.

Anyone interested in having your own "Catch" can subscribe to it.

I hope I did not infringe any copyright rules.

If I did, well, you'll know, as this would be deleted in a flash.

Soldiers by John Fischer

To those who fought and never came back

And those who came back broken

To those who wondered why

And those who never questioned

No one asked them what they thought

Of policies and platforms

They only did what they had to do

And thanks was long in coming

On a day we honor the dead and the living

Who know the real cost of war

And those still trapped inside their heads

Who can't get outside the door

Who can know the awful truth

Of what they must have seen?

And who has lived to tell it

Yet know they never will

Reasons that the journalists

And politicians won

Will never be the same as those

On this side of a gun

So on this day we lay aside

Our arguments and advice

And thank the Lord for those who gave

The ultimate sacrifice
