Happy Fathers' Day
My eyes are wet, because my darling baby's are too
She yearns for her father
Even though she puts on a brave face, or two
The pain of separation
Of denying her the God-given right
To having a full time father
Is still raw.

What can I say?
I didn't ask for this to happen
Tell me
However many couples get married
With divorce clearly as their "escape" button
and I will tell you
How many more couples are seeking counselling
To improve on their marriage

Her father decided to leave for another woman
Though it was done quite subtly
Starting with dis-satisfaction with home life
Enhanced by posted out-station
Followed by arguments about anything and everything under the sun
From different forms of child-rearing
To money management
To the kind of clothes I wore,
Until the final " I wouldn't look at you twice even if you were the last woman on earth"

He did admit to his adulterous affair(s)
When I have finally managed to forgive him
Only God knows what I might have done
If I hadn't.

Thank you Lord,
for protecting me from the gallows.
He is not worth me dying for...

The divorce finalised, and we lived
For a while.... happy lives
With regular visiting from him
Even outings as a 'family'

Then the lady in question finally raised her head
And all the fairytales and hopes the children held
Dashed to the ground
Crushed,
With an extra kick of dirt into the face,
As he announced to the girls:
"That kind 'jie jie' whom you met 8 years ago
Is now.... my wife."

Since then and with obvious progression
The weekly visits became less frequent
To fortnightly, to monthly...
To...seasonally...
Did i mention that the last visit was in February
For the birthday celebration of the younger daughter?

The maintenance he provides were...
Let's just say it's less than his monthly expenses for the car
He drives an Audi - less than 3 years old.
Hmmm

My daughter is still crying
Because he is blaming her
For him being angry with her
Resulting in the younger one
not being able to see the father as well for the last 4 months.

Go figure....
And it all started with my daughter calling him
To wish him a "Happy Father's Day"...

Indeed

For all you responsible, loving, caring, honourable fathers out there
Happy Father's Day
For you Michael...
well what can I say?
Thanks for the 2 girls you fathered
& that, really
Is from the bottom of my heart
